Eurasian universities in world rankings: The problem of fair assessment of the quality of education in Eurasian universities (Russia, Moscow, Astana)

The article examines the role and place of Eurasian universities in the global rankings. Based on an analysis of the participation of universities of the Eurasian Association (EAU) in such rankings, the author concludes that the activities of Eurasian universities in world rankings are underestimated and improvement of the principles and methodology for calculating indicators in the QS and Times Higher Education (THE) rankings is required. The author proposes to identify the indicator “quality of education” and presents the results of assessing the places of universities according to this indicator in the latest QS and Times rankings. The article proposes measures to develop joint proposals of Eurasian universities to improve the compilation of world rankings.
