| | | The article examines the problems of socio-economic transformations reflected in the Russian journals of the perestroika era, analyzing a wide range of publications from the late 1980s to early 1990s and identifying their key issues such as the crisis of the planned economy, shortages of consumer goods, hidden unemployment, falling labor productivity, militarization of the budget and the growth of the shadow sector. Particular attention is given to the role of magazines as media intermediaries that provide a connection between academic economic thought, public policy and the everyday experience of the population. Based on an analysis of contemporary scientific literature of 2020–2025, the author shows that journal discussions of the perestroika period not only recorded the symptoms of the crisis, but also contributed to the formation of a new language of reform, including the concepts of “repressed inflation,” “money overhang,” “hidden unemployment”. The purpose of the study is to identify and systematize socio-economic problems discussed in periodicals, as well as to determine their significance for understanding the preconditions for the reforms of the early 1990s. | | Key words: perestroika, socio-economic problems, magazine discourse, deficit, hidden unemployment, shadow economy | | Pages: 218 - 222 |
