Present-day challenges of e-commerce: platform architecture, consumer behavior
and seller strategies (Russia, Moscow)
E-commerce has undergone significant changes in the 21st century, especially under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which served as the strongest driver for the development of electronic trading platforms. However, the growth of online platforms is accompanied by serious challenges associated with information asymmetry, trading formats and the difficulties of building consumer trust. The article identifies factors that lead to the transition of trade from traditional markets to new online platforms and systematizes present-day research on three key aspects of e-commerce: platform architecture, consumer behavior and seller strategies.
