| The article focuses on the structures of economics in EEU member states and argues that their low complexity and diversification constitute the main reason for the low of their production cooperation and creation of added value chains, weak mutual trade, insufficiently developed mutual investment, and slow economic growth. The author shows that EEU countries found themselves in the “middle-income trap,” which puts limitations to technological development, slows down the economic growth and lowers competitiveness on the global market.
